As part of our somatic work, we pay close attention to the body as a key place where stress, trauma, and emotion are held and expressed. We gently help clients notice, name, and release “stuck” patterns in the nervous system through body awareness, breath, and intentional movement. Decades of trauma research, including the work of psychiatrist Bessel van der Kolk (author of The Body Keeps the Score), emphasize that trauma is not only a story in the mind but is also carried in the body—in our nervous system, muscles, breath, and gut. At Sacred Bonds Counseling & Wellness, we honor this reality by integrating body‑based care into our work: supporting fascia‑focused stretching, yoga‑like practices, and other gentle movements that help the body complete what it could not do during times of overwhelm.

Because physical health and mental health are deeply interconnected, we also briefly review core nutritional aspects of a person’s daily life (such as general diet patterns, hydration, and basic nourishment) to help ensure that mental health symptoms are not being driven or amplified by underlying deficiencies or imbalances. We encourage clients to explore these medical and nutritional dimensions in close collaboration with their primary medical providers and, when desired, non‑traditional or culturally rooted healers. In this way, mind, body, and spirit can move together toward healing rather than working at cross purposes.

please put that all together for me using the 3 key components of our therapeutic care as guiding principle for the prospective patient to understand when browsing for what services we can offer them: tending to the Psyche (trauma resolution/cognitive aspects-emotional construct resolution), Somatic (Body Work-Nervous System Retraining so that we engage more of the parasympathetic to replace the default hightened sympathetic dysregulations), and the Soul (Discovering Who We Truly Are and maximizing our potential).
